Last updated October 25, 2026. This covers the Slated website and iPhone/iPad app.
Short version: there are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. What you tell Slated stays on your device, except what the app needs to send you alerts you ask for, and your settings if you link your devices to sync them.
What stays on your device
Your settings (services, location, leagues, view), the teams you follow and your recent searches are kept on your device: in your browser’s local storage on the web, in the app’s storage (shared with its widgets) on iPhone and iPad. They aren’t sent to us unless you turn on sync (below). Clearing the site’s data, or deleting the app, removes them.
Sync
On iPhone and iPad, the app keeps your services, followed teams, league choices and a home set by ZIP code in your iCloud (Apple’s key-value storage), so your Apple devices match and a reinstall picks up where you left off. We can’t see it.
If you link devices with a pairing code (Settings → Sync), those same settings are kept on our servers under a random key that only your linked devices hold, so a browser and the app stay the same. It isn’t tied to a name, email, device or IP address. A pairing code is deleted once it’s used or after an hour; a copy no device has used for a year is deleted. Stop syncing in settings and that device stops sending.
Location
To work out which regional networks and TV market apply to you, Slated looks up the approximate region your IP address points to, or the ZIP code you enter. The lookup answers with a state and TV market; the answer is saved on your device, not with us, and you can change it in settings. Slated doesn’t use your device’s GPS.
Alerts and Live Activities (iPhone and iPad)
If you turn on start alerts, the app sends us your device’s push token (a random address Apple issues for sending notifications to this app on this device), which games you asked to be alerted for, the teams whose games you want alerts for, and the app’s version. We use them only to send those alerts, and keep a record of each alert sent (when it was sent and whether it arrived) for 30 days. The token is deleted when you turn alerts off, or when Apple tells us it’s no longer valid (for example after you delete the app). Where to watch is worked out on your device: your services and location are never sent with alerts.
Following a game on the Lock Screen (a Live Activity) uses one update channel per game, shared by everyone following it. Nothing about you or your device is sent to us for it.
Requests to our servers
Like any website or app, your device’s requests reach our servers and Cloudflare (who run our network) with your IP address, which is used to answer them and for the region lookup above. We don’t store IP addresses in our database or tie them to anything else.
Crash and performance reports
When something fails or runs slowly, the website and app send a report to Sentry, a service that collects them for us: what went wrong or how long it took, the page or screen, and the app version, browser or device model and system version. Reports don’t include your name, settings, favorites or location, IP addresses aren’t stored with them, and they’re deleted after 30 days.
Sharing
We don’t sell or share your information. Push alerts go through Apple’s notification service, and crash and performance reports to Sentry. Game information comes from public sports sources; nothing about you is sent to them.
Other sites
Links to leagues, teams, networks and streaming services take you to their sites and apps, and their privacy policies.
Your choices
You can turn alerts off at any time in the app’s settings, which deletes your push token and choices from our servers, and stop syncing on any device. Everything else is on your device, and goes when you clear it or delete the app.
